Almeria 1-2 Real Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo’s Solo Goal Helps Madrid
16 April 2010
Cristiano Ronaldo entered in Thursday’s La Liga match between Almeria and Real Madrid with the mission of helping Los Blancos to bounce back from their El Clasico defeat to Barcelona. Ronaldo was at the center of criticism ahead of the encounter following his failure to produce wonders last week.
However, he finally showed what he was worth with a solo goal that initiated Real Madrid’s 2-1 comeback against Almeria. Crusat had put the home side in front inside 13 minutes with a tap in to finish off Uche’s square ball in the penalty box. But at the 26th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo popped up with a delightful move.
The Portuguese winger stunned and teased Almeria’s defense with his quick feet and dives before firing a low shot with his left foot that deceived goalkeeper Alves and rolled into the bottom corner of the net. Ronaldo gave Real Madrid something good at half time as the score line was set to one all. He was involved in some other good play as well in the second half.
Most importantly, his eye-catching solo goal came at a benefit in the end as midfielder Van der Vaart completed Real Madrid’s comeback with a winner at the 68th minute of the game. So Cristiano Ronaldo got his 19th goal in La Liga this season while Los Blancos reduced the 6-point gap against Barcelona to just 3.
