Almeria vs Real Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo Must Shine
15 April 2010
Last weekend was a tough one for the world’s most expensive football star Cristiano Ronaldo. Real Madrid got beaten 2-0 by Barcelona in El Clasico, and Cristiano Ronaldo got whistled for his unimpressive performance. Now CR9 will face Almeria on Thursday night in La Liga with the aim of bouncing back.
The Portuguese star winger knows how vital it is for Real Madrid to get all three points. Los Blancos are currently 6 points off the pace since Barcelona defeated Deportivo La Coruna on Wednesday night. The race for La Liga title has become difficult for the Spanish giants and all eyes are set on Cristiano Ronaldo to lift his side’s hopes as many Madrid fans have already conceded the domestic trophy to the Blaugrana.
Cristiano Ronaldo might remember how eventful his night was when he played against Almeria in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu. In that match, the forward missed a penalty, scored a goal afterward, and got sent off for kicking at a defender who had provoked him with a reckless challenge. Goals is what people will be expecting from the 80 Million Pounds signing who is 11 goals behind La Liga’s leading scorer Lionel Messi in the chart. As for another red card against Almeria… this will be disastrous!
Cristiano Ronaldo is the Real Madrid player with the highest number of red cards this season (he picked two). Now as Real Madrid come up against Almeria on Thursday evening, the Portuguese play maker will be keen to lower the critics that have emerged everywhere in the Spanish papers following Los Blancos’ El Clasico defeat. What do you predict about Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance in La Liga tonight?
