Bernd Schuster reveals Madrid could lose the battle
30 July 2008Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster has admitted the Spanish giants have prepared a plan B for Ronaldo’s transfer. He said the club was interested in signing a wonderful player like Ronaldo but he added that the Portuguese winger still seemed undecided. Madrid now remains uncertain about a move for Man United’s number 7 this summer.
As the transfer window it is coming to an end in around a month, the club is consequently considering other options. Bern Schuster revealed his frustration over the fact that Real Madrid has made no major signing. He stated that the Spanish giants were in a position where it could be too late for them to get the targeted attacking players they want such as Cesc Fabregas.
However, besides his concern over the fact that Madrid has spent too much time trying to complete a deal for Ronaldo’s transfer, Bernd Schuster confessed his admiration for Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson. He praised the Scottish man for his stance towards his will to keep Ronaldo in England and declared he was not surprised that signing the Red Devil star will be a difficult thing to do.
Nevertheless, history recalls that Real Madrid never fails to possess a footballer they are interested in.
This time, it could be a different story all together. Both Madrid and Man United are presently facing tough moments as the transfer saga has unsettled their plans to strengthen their squad.
It is very much a possibility that Cristiano Ronaldo ends up staying at Old Trafford come next season, which means that things will be as they were before the transfer window.
At this point, it looks like the saga was created just for Ronaldo to be at the centre of this summer’s hot issues.
