Cristiano Ronaldo: I Am Not Jealous Of Lionel Messi – Congratulations To Lionel

Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, and Lionel Messi on the stage in ZurichCristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are often compared to each other; their rivalry has been growing a lot. But CR9 insists that he’s not jealous of Barcelona’s Argentine forward.

It was looked like Lionel Messi was going to scoop the FIFA Player of the Year award and prevent Cristiano Ronaldo from winning it for the second time in a row.

Speaking ahead of the FIFA Player of Year Awards ceremony in Zurich, Cristiano Ronaldo avowed his joy at winning the prestigious title. He explained:

“It will be a great feeling of happiness if I win the [FIFA Player of the Year] trophy again. Everyboday knows how important and huge this award is.

“I felt privileged when I won it last year and I’m sure this year’s winner will be delighted.”

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid team mate Kaka, Barcelona’s midfield duo Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta, as well as hot favorite Lionel Messi were all vying for last night’s FIFA Player of the Year award.

However, everyone was expecting the 22-year-old Argentine forward to take away the prize. Speaking about his rival, 2008 FIFA Player of the Year winner Cristiano Ronaldo stated:

“Lionel Messi is an important player for FC Barcelona. He’s played very well for them. He will probably win the award.”
After praising the importance of Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta as well, Cristiano Ronaldo proudly declared:

“Everyone gets what he deserves. I am not jealous of Lionel [Messi],

“I would like to commend him for what he has done and I would like to commend other nominees as well.”

    I think the same… Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t need to keep the ball in his feet for minutes during games… He makes his trademark flicks and tricks which incite defenders to foul him. Then in a blink of an eye, he’s scored you already with the force of a rocket… In the end, he wins titles, genuine titles..

    Not like Messi who has to thank referee Thomas Ovrebo for forging Barcelona’s way through against Chelsea in the semifinals of the Champions League last year.. Think a bit, if Barca had not cheated that much, they’d have crashed out of the Champions League in the semis..

    Where would have been Lionel Messi and Barca’s European Super Cup trophy, FIFA World Club Cup trophy, and UEFA Champions League title?

    Ronaldo might have won the UEFA Champions League for another time before moving to Real Madrid… Ronaldo has already tasted the FIFA World Club Cup trophy by the way…

    Ronaldo is the best since 3 years now for me. And he’s getting better and better. Ronaldo all the way!!!
