La Liga: Osasuna 0-0 Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Los Blancos stay 2nd behind Barcelona
4 January 2010
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid couldn’t capitalize on Barcelona’s slip at the top of the Spanish La Liga. Los Blancos only picked up a point against Osasuna as the match ended goalless.
It surely wasn’t Manuel Pelligrini’s dream start to the year 2010.
Whether it was because of the difficult conditions in which the match was played or not, Real Madrid didn’t leave up to expectations as a bunch of missed of opportunities cost them a lot.
Earlier on Saturday, Barcelona were held at home to Villarreal – meaning that Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid were in with the chance of joining the defending Spanish La Liga champions at the top of the table.
However, the best didn’t happen for Real Madrid who had put on hold their La Liga campaign on a wonderful note through a 6-0 victory over Real Zaragoza.
Real Madrid’s better opportunities fell to Marcelo and Gonzalo Higuain while Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t inject much of his influence in the game. The Portuguese winger could have easily picked up a yellow card for simulation at a point in the game.
Considering Osasuna’s dominance during the whole of the first half, one may think that Real Madrid were fortunate
enough to leave with at least a point.
But Los Blancos will not comfort themselves with this fact. Instead, Manuel Pellegrini would want his men to back up from Sunday’s performance ahead of this weekend’s La Liga clash at home to Real Mallorca.
Until then, Real Madrid have 38 points in the standings, two behind the leaders Barcelona and six above third-placed Valencia.
Now Cristiano Ronaldo Fan gives you the opportunity to watch video highlights of Real Madrid’s 0-0 draw away to Osasuna.
